Atlanta Falcons QB Michael Penix Jr. completed 21-of-38 passes for 312 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in Week 18 against the Carolina Panthers, and he ran once for a 5-yard touchdown.
Huddle Up: Penix Jr. finished up strong, although the Falcons came up just short in their bid for an NFC South Division title and a playoff berth. Penix looks like a QB2 in most redraft fantasy leagues in 2025 with some upside potential, but he is a solid option in long-term dynasty formats.

Atlanta Falcons QB Michael Penix Jr. completed 19 of 35 passes for 223 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception in a Week 17 loss to the Washington Commanders. Penix also fumbled twice and ran for three yards on two attempts.
Huddle Up: Penix had his moments Sunday night, most notably his dart to Kyle Pitts on fourth and goal to tie the game late in the fourth. He missed some throws, too, and generally looked like a young quarterback still finding his way in the NFL. He'll face a Panthers defense that gave up 359 yards and 5 TDs to Baker Mayfield on Sunday, so there's a lot to like about his matchup. Given the modest numbers in his first two starts, however, Penix would be a risky choice.

Atlanta Falcons QB Michael Penix Jr. completed 18-of-27 passes for 202 yards, no touchdowns and one interception in his first NFL start in Week 16 against the New York Giants, while running four times for three yards.
Huddle Up: Penix didn't do much in his first NFL start, which ended in a blowout victory thanks to the defense posting a pair of interception returns for touchdown. He is a low-end QB2 in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams heading into Week 17, and a must-have in dynasty formats.

Atlanta Falcons QB Michael Penix Jr. will start over QB Kirk Cousins in Week 16, head coach Raheem Morris revealed on Tuesday, Dec. 17.
Huddle Up: Penix Jr. has thrown just five NFL passes, so it goes without saying he can't be trusted in lineups this week. Adding to that, the change leaves all Falcons pass-catchers on shakier ground entering Week 16.

Atlanta Falcons QB Kirk Cousins completed 18-of-27 passes for 173 yards, no touchdowns and one interception in Week 11 against the Denver Broncos before being lifted in the fourth quarter of the rout. Rookie QB Michael Penix Jr. finished in mop-up duty.
Huddle Up: Cousins and the Falcons will look to rebound in Week 13 after the team returns from its bye week. He remains more of a low-end QB1 or top QB2 in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams.

The Atlanta Falcons may be interested in trading QB Taylor Heinicke and stashing a young quarterback on the team's practice squad, rather than keeping three quarterbacks on the 53-man roster, in the opinion of The Athletic's Josh Kendall. QBs Kirk Cousins and Michael Penix Jr. are ahead of Heinicke on the Falcons' depth chart.

Atlanta Falcons QB Michael Penix Jr. completed nine of his 16 pass attempts for 104 yards in his preseason debut Friday, Aug. 9.

Atlanta Falcons first-round draft choice QB Michael Penix Jr. agreed to terms on a four-year contract with the Falcons Friday, June 21, worth $22.8 million, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The deal includes a fifth-year option.

Atlanta Falcons QB Michael Penix Jr. worked with the backups during minicamp while veteran QB Taylor Heinicke worked with the first team. Starting QB Kirk Cousins (Achilles') is still recovering from an Achilles' injury and did not take part in camp.
Huddle Up: We knew it on draft day, and we still know it now. Penix is ticketed for the bench this year and probably beyond, leaving him exclusively with value in keeper formats for patient owners.

UCLA DE Laiatu Latu was reportedly a consideration for the Atlanta Falcons with the eighth pick in the 2024 NFL Draft before the team settled on University of Washington QB Michael Penix Jr., according to Steve Wyche of NFL Network. Per Wyche, the Falcons tried to trade back into the first round in an attempt to draft Latu, who was selected by the Indianapolis Colts with the 15th pick.
